Facebook versus Sophos

The BBC have given some extra exposure to Facebook’s squirming^H^H^H point of view: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12216654

‘[Facebook] also says that its own data suggests Sophos has exaggerated the problem.

“As a result of our efforts, the data we have on interactions of more than 500 million people using Facebook shows that spam, malware and other attacks have decreased in their effectiveness—the opposite conclusion reached by a security vendor.”‘

I don’t doubt that FB takes steps to address security breaches. It does worry me that it’s so focused on reactive measures and anti-Sophos spin.
