Shrek Virus: Hack, Hype or Hoax?

Welcome to the Misinformation Superhighway for the X-factor generation.

Graham Cluley notes that BBC’s @ruskin147 (BBC technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones) writes about media hoaxes (http://bbc.in/jYfiQh – an article worth reading) but makes no reference to today’s BeautifulPeople ‘Shrek virus’ which he clearly believes to be more of a PR exercise than real security news.

I’m with Graham on this story, frankly. Does anyone really believe it? Or even care, apart from the terminally conceited?

I’m just wondering whether BeautifulPR has been taking advice on self-promotion from LulzSec.
