Android support scams (well, almost)

I’ve just put up a blog for (ISC)2 – Food for Fraud: Android & Tech Support Scams – that comments on an interesting article by Jerome Segura for Malwarebytes.

Essentially, it suggests that tech support scammers may be moving beyond the over-cultivated field of fake Windows XP ‘support’ and the occasional Mac-targeted gambit into targeting the users of mobile devices. However, it seems to me that for the moment, this is still mostly about using Android ‘support’ to get to Windows users. Support scams that truly target Android (and other mobile platforms) would require considerably more sophistication.
