Nigerian Astronaut 419 Revisited

This has been one of my favourite 419s (“Nigerian” advance fee fraud scams) for many years.

Apparently we’re supposed to believe that this poor chap has been stranded on a Soviet space station for so long he’s lost count of what year it is. If I’d known that astronauts were so well paid, I’d have considered a career change.

I’m not sure whether it’s really re-circulating or just picked up by a dubious web site, but here’s an article by Lester Haines for The Register from 2004 that quotes a version in full.

If it isn’t circulating, it’s still good for a laugh, and worth pointing out to the sceptically-challenged…
